Dance Events

Traditional acoustic music and traditional dance go hand in hand.
This year we have six great  events taking place in the Peacham Town Gym (79 Church St. - upstairs from the Post Office and the Town Offices).

The first dance is a Contra Dance on Friday evening with a warm-up at 7:30 and the main dance at 8:00 featuring the music of the acclaimed Scottish band Cantrip with Luke Donforth calling.  Don't miss this opportunity to dance to the sound of the fiddle, guitar and bagpipes!

On Saturday morning the day starts at 8:30 with a Yoga session lead by Darcie Feller of  Body Charge Therapeutic Massage

The second dance happens on Saturday morning at 10:00 am - a Family Contra Dance featuring music by Erynn Marshall and Carl Jones, again with Luke Donforth calling.

There will be a demonstration of Morris Dancing starting at 12:15 pm on Saturday followed by a workshop where Morris Dancing fundamentals will be a taught.
Midnight Capers Morris and Sword will be leading this event.

Saturday afternoon at 2:00 pm, Luke and Cantrip will again take the stage and lead the dancers in an afternoon contra dance.

At 4:00 pm, the sounds of the Bayou Country will be presented by Cajun Double Fiddles - Alec Ellsworth and Katie Trautz with Chris Hollis. They will start out with Alec leading a Cajun two-step dance workshop as he masterfully guides the dancers into the rhythms of Lousiana. After the dancers are "feeling it", the workshop will transform into a full on Cajun Dance!

The Grand Finale Contra dance kicks off at 8:00 pm on Saturday evening.  Expect the pace to pick up - more intricate dances, faster rhythms,  as we reach the climatic conclusion with the final Contra Dance with Luke and Cantrip.
