Dance Events

Traditional acoustic music and traditional dance go hand in hand.
This year we have six great  events taking place in the Peacham Town Gym (79 Church St. - upstairs from the Post Office and the Town Offices).

The first dance is a Contra Dance on Friday evening with a warm-up at 7:30 and the main dance at 8:00 featuring the music of the amazing Quickstep - John Kirk and Trish Miller with Nils Fredland calling.  Don't miss this opportunity to dance to a great band and caller.

On Saturday morning the day starts at 9:00 with a Yoga session lead by Darcie Feller of  Body Charge Therapeutic Massage

The second dance happens on Saturday morning at 10:30 am - a Family Contra Dance featuring music by Quickstep (John and Trish), again with Nils Fredland calling.
          Nils Fredland

There will be a demonstration of Morris Dancing starting at 12:15 pm on Saturday followed by a workshop where Morris Dancing fundamentals will be a taught.
Midnight Capers Morris and Sword will be leading this event.

Saturday afternoon at 2:00 pm, the Grand Finale Contra dance kicks off .  Expect the pace to pick up - more intricate dances, faster rhythms,  as we reach the climatic conclusion with the final Contra Dance with Nils Fredland once again leading the way to the music of Quickstep!

Friday Evening Contra Dance
Intro at 7:30 pm and Main Dance 8-11 pm
On Friday evening starting at 8:00 PM we will feature the brilliant music of Quickstep (Trish Miller & John Kirk) playing to the calling of Nils Fredland - a wonderful dance caller.

Contra dances are fun for one and all, from the beginner to the seasoned expert.
Nils will provide clear, detailed instructions and a walk-through before the start of each dance.  Should you take a "wrong turn" during a dance, you will find that fellow dancers are happy to help guide you through the tricky bits!

Special Note:
For those that would like a little extra preparation, there will be an Intro to Contra mini-workshop starting at 7:30 PM, just before the main event.

As always, Nils will provide clear, detailed instructions and a walk-through before the start of each dance, but expect these dances to be a bit more intricate, a bit more wild.
