Dance Events

Acoustic music and traditional dance go hand in hand.

We are very excited to announce that for PAMFest 2019, we plan to move the dances out of the gym,
(to be replaced by the ever popular instrument petting zoo), and have all the dances under a tent at the top of the hill on the green in front of the Peacham Fire Department.  This location has been christened "The Fire House Tent"   We will install the dance floor that was previously used for the Champlain Valley Folk Festival under a 40 x 80' tent.  There will be a shuttle bus running continuously between the Peacham Congregational Church and the Peacham Fire Department when events are taking place at the Fire House Tent.
We anticipate that magic is going to happen at this new venue!!

To christen this new dance venue, we have assembled a stellar line-up of talented performers to make the feet fly and the hearts soar!!

Saturday Afternoon Blues / Swing Dance
5:00-6:30 pm
On Saturday afternoon starting at 5:00 PM PAMFest offers a new dance choice - a blues/swing dance featuring the music of
Annie & The Hedonists

Take a little bit of folk music and mix it with acoustic blues, Western swing, and vintage jazz from the 1920s and ‘30s, and you end up with Annie and the Hedonists.

Annie is a captivating singer. She delivers a lyric like it was a cherished bedtime story; as comfortable as your favorite sweater; as truthful as…well, I can’t think of anything that honest. Her band mates, Peter Davis, (guitar, banjo, clarinet, piano, vocal), Jonny Rosen, (guitar, vocal) and Don Young, (bass, guitar, vocal), are first and foremost accomplished, serious musicians. More importantly, they each have an innate yet individual sense of childlike wonder, which is evident on every track, becoming more intoxicating upon multiple listenings, (I suggest 1,000 or more). ---Joel Moss, Producer, Managra Music
“Annie’s versatile, vintage-tinged voice is the perfect match for the Hedonists’ ace musicianship” “Jazz, blues, country, folk, bluegrass ... it's all here."  -Times Union  Known for its dynamic lead singer and the tight harmonies and superb musicianship of the Hedonists – the band interprets the songs of the great female blues artists of the 1920s, 30s and 40s, including Bessie Smith, Sippie Wallace, Memphis Minnie, Ma Rainey, Billie Holiday, and Ella Fitzgerald.

Don't miss this opportunity to dance to some of the best blues and swing music in the Northeast!

Saturday Evening Grand Contra Dance Finale
7:00-10:00 pm

On Saturday evening starting at 7:00 PM the grand contra dance finale take place, featuring the music of the Kolodners with Steve Zakon-Anderson calling these dances.

The dynamic father-son team of Ken & Brad Kolodner weave together a captivating soundscape on hammered dulcimer, banjo, and fiddles pushing the boundaries of the American Old-Time tradition into uncharted territory. Regarded as one of the most influential hammered dulcimer players and Old-Time fiddlers in North America, Baltimore’s Ken Kolodner has joined forces with his son Brad Kolodner, a rising star in the clawhammer banjo world. Together, they infuse their own brand of driving, innovative, tasteful and unique interpretations of traditional and original Old-Time tunes with a “creative curiosity that lets all listeners know that a passion for traditional music yet thrives in every generation.” They are joined by bassist Alex Lacquement who is one of the most in-demand and versatile bass players in the Mid-Atlantic.

These contra's will not be for the faint hearted, but don't let that stop you from taking the floor for one of the most vibrant, exciting events of the weekend.

As always, Steve Zakon-Anderson will provide clear, detailed instructions and a walk-through before the start of each dance, but expect these dances to be a bit more intricate, a bit more wild.
